Martin joined Elliot Mather in July 2018 and is based at our Nottingham Office.

He has practiced in the East Midlands region for the last 10 years following a relocation having originally trained in Liverpool.

Martin has extensive experience all areas of both employment law and commercial property.

Most recently Martin has worked on more complex employment cases particularly disability discrimination, TUPE and whistleblowing. Martin has advised on acquisitions and mergers.

He acts for both employers and employees in pursuing and defending employment tribunal proceedings including drafting and advising on employment contracts and settlement agreements.

Martin will assist in resolving workplace disputes as quickly as possible to ensure that a client’s interests are protected with minimal cost in both financial and time expenditure. However where court action and / or alternative methods of resolution are appropriate Martin will ensure a robust pursuit of the case to conclusion ensuring the client is guided at all stages of the process.

As for his commercial property expertise, Martin deals with a variety of transactions including leases, sales and purchases, overage agreements, option agreements and refinancing. He has also negotiated an agreement for Lease for a development of a sports village.

As businesses become more successful they may wish to look at moving to new premises. Martin will ensure that a client’s commercial interests are protected with minimal cost to the business in both financial and time expenditure. Where a Lease is due to expire and the terms of a new Lease is to be negotiated Martin has experience of working with surveyors and other parties in pressing for the best deal for his clients.
