Peter is an experienced Dispute Resolution Solicitor with over a decade’s experience handling all manner of Civil Disputes for clients in the East Midlands, South Yorkshire and Nationwide. He joined Elliot Mather in March 2023 as a Senior Associate Solicitor and is based at both our Mansfield and Chesterfield offices.

Peter is able to assist with the following for both individuals and businesses:

• Property Disputes including disputes over property owned by people who are unmarried, boundary disputes and applications for adverse possession.
• Disputes concerning the Administration of Estates and challenging wills.
• Negligence claims against professionals.
• Business Disputes including disputes between company directors, claims by shareholders, partnership disputes and commercial contract claims.
• Contentious Landlord and Tenant work for Commercial and Private clients including residential possession claims, commercial property possession claims, applications to renew commercial leases and defending unlawful eviction claims for private landlords.
• Preparing and advising upon Settlement Agreements for employers and employees.

Peter believes in putting the interests of his clients first by understanding what they wish to achieve and advising them in Plain English how best they can achieve their objectives using the legal procedures available. Peter understands that being involved in a dispute is very stressful experience and so works with empathy and support to ensure clients can navigate through the Court process with as much ease as possible. He understands that the Court process can be lengthy and expensive and so he takes a commercial view to help clients settle out of Court through mediation or other alternative dispute resolution wherever possible. However if that is not possible he will work hard to represent your interests at Court.

Peter has a number of connections locally and is reinstructed by clients and referred work by business contacts on a repeat basis.

Achievements and experiences:

• Securing a successful settlement in High Court Proceedings allowing a client to be registered as a shareholder of a company.
• Securing a judgement at Court for the executor of a Will to evict an individual who was unlawfully residing at a property owned by the Deceased.
• Assisting a leading business in repossessing, through Court Proceedings, some commercial property located at a development site that has changed the face of the local area.
• Numerous successful repossession cases for a Landlord Company who owns and manages properties nationwide.
• Worked on two reported cases; Warwick (Formerly Yarwood) v Trustee In Bankruptcy of Clive Graham Yarwood [2010] EWHC 2272 and Total Extraction Ltd v Aircentric Ltd [2021] EW Misc 21 (CC)
